Over 20 million men have been prescribed Viagra since the FDA approved it in 1998. Used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction, Viagra is manufactured by the Pfizer company.

Recently, the Journal of the American Medical Association released a study showing a link between use of the little blue pill and melanoma -- the most dangerous form of skin cancer that usually occurs in the skin, and sometimes also in the eyes, intestines, and mouth. Researchers gathered and analyzed data from a study by the Harvard School of Public Health, which tracked data from approximately 26,000 men from 1986 to 2000, and examined the instances of melanoma and the men's use of Viagra.

The results were alarming: men who had taken Viagra were more likely to develop the cancer than those who didn't take the drug -- even after factoring in their family histories and exposure to UV light.  Of those men who didn't use and never had used Viagra, just 4.3 out of every thousand developed melanoma; of those who did take the drug, 8.6 out of every thousand developed the cancer -- an increase of approximately 84%.
